Skunk #1 is a classic that helped shape modern cannabis breeding, and it remains a favourite among growers who value reliable, uniform results. This Sativa-leaning hybrid, around three-quarters Sativa and one-quarter Indica, descends from Afghan, Acapulco Gold and Colombian Gold lines and has been stabilised since the late 1970s. Plants develop dense, generous colas with a favourable leaf-to-flower ratio, and the buds take on a striking mix of light green and golden tones coated in frosty trichomes. Expect a pungent, sweet and slightly tart aroma with spicy and earthy undertones, followed by a flavour that leans sweet and fruity. The effect is balanced, starting as a lively, energetic buzz with a euphoric lift. Growers will find the plant vigorous and fairly forgiving, suited to indoor, outdoor and greenhouse rooms. Because the flowers grow heavy, plants benefit from support in late flowering, and its sensitivity to mould in the final weeks is worth keeping in mind. Flowering takes around nine weeks.
